Down the wormhole: Blanck Mass shares politicised animated video for ‘Please’

Blanck Mass shares politicised animated video for ‘Please’

Benjamin John Power has also announced a bunch of UK and European tour dates.

Blanck Mass – aka Benjamin John Power, one half of Fuck Buttons – unveiled ‘Please’, the choppy, distorted first single from his upcoming album ‘World Eater’, back in January.

The track now has a new video, directed by Michael Tan, which embraces the more politicised aspects of Benjamin’s new record. Tan explained in a statement: “With the current political climate, it’s hard not to be concerned about the future of the planet and the population as a whole. There seems to be no genuine concern from governments about the state of the earth, climate change or the future. The video personifies this concern within its characters.”

The animated clip plummets the viewer down a wormhole into a shady world populated by anonymous white figures who seem to be turning their back on the environment in favour of technology. They also round on another figure, hounding him because he’s coloured blue rather than white.

Benjamin has also announced a series of UK and European shows for March and April. On 31st March he’s at Rewire Festival in the Netherlands, and plays at Belgium’s More Music Festival before heading to Glasgow’s CCA on 21st April. He then makes stops in Prestatyn, Brighton and London before rounding off his tour in Bristol.
