Festivals: Lady Gaga is replacing Beyoncé at Coachella 2017

Lady Gaga is replacing Beyoncé at Coachella 2017

She joins Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar at the top of the bill.

Last month, Beyoncé pulled out of headlining 2017’s Coachella after she revealed she’s expecting twins. Bey’s going to headline next year, and it’s just been announced that Joanne herself, Lady Gaga, will step in to headline the pair of Saturday nights in April.

She joins Friday night headliners Radiohead and Sunday bill-topper Kendrick Lamar in Indio, California next month, with the likes of Glass Animals, Lorde, Bon Iver, The xx and tonnes more also on board.

Even aside from Beyoncé and her new babas, his year’s Coachella hasn’t been without its share of controversy before the event’s even happened. New York’s hardcore punks Show Me The Body appeared on the initial line-up poster for the event, but said they “never agreed to play Coachella. We were offered but we said no”.

An “amended offer” was then put in by the festival, leading the band to accept, and be reinstated on the line-up. They’re set to donate all their profits from the show to LGBT charities in California.
