Re-tape: Young Fathers are reissuing ‘Tape One’ and ‘Tape Two’

The Scots are currently in the studio, but the re-releases are out in June!

Earlier this year, Young Fathers teamed up with the Leith Congregational Choir and unleashed brand new single ‘Only God Knows’, which was featured alongside five other tracks on the soundtrack to ‘T2: Trainspotting’.

They’re currently recording new material in the studio, but while we’re waiting for even more new material the Scots have headed back in time, mining their back catalogue and bringing their first two mixtapes back into focus. They’ll be reissuing both ‘Tape One’ and ‘Tape Two’ via Big Dada on 16th June.

‘Tape One’ was recorded in a single week back in 2011 and was released as a free download and limited edition cassette (with individually spray painted sleeves no less!) ‘Tape Two’ came pretty much immediately afterwards, in January 2012. It won the Scottish Album of the Year Award in 2014.

Speaking of the reissues, the trio said in a statement: “When we were younger, we made some tapes. Now they’re a double alum. Could be the best music we’ve ever made. Who knows? Who cares?” We care, Young Fathers!

In-fighting. Self-doubt. An entire scrapped album recording. This is the story of ‘A Hero’s Death’, and how it helped piece Fontaines DC back together again.
