A couple of weeks back, Norwegian/ Kiwi duo Anna of the North unveiled their latest synth-pop belter ‘Someone’, a track that’s “about accepting that you’re only human and to learn how to forgive yourself for your own mistakes and accepting that sometimes we need someone to save us from repeating any old habits”.
Now, the cut from their upcoming debut album ‘Lovers’ (out 8th September) has a stylish new video, self-directed by the band in Miami. It reflects on both night and day, with Anna seeming isolated on the shore and in the bustling metropolis itself, seemingly filled with regret about her actions.
Speaking of the video’s creation, Anna says “It’s a video made in Miami but it’s certainly not a stereotypical Miami video. The ‘party’ side to cities like Miami can feel vacuous, making them the loneliest places in the world, so it’s a fitting backdrop to the story. It’s set the day after a big night, when you instantly regret something that happened. It’s about the internal battle of the day after; trying to accept that you’re human and how hard it is to forgive yourself for your own mistakes. It gets more desperate throughout as the realization sets in”.
Anna of the North have also announced a new European tour. After playing the likes of Pukkelpop and Bestival and a short run in Australia, they’ll head to London at the end of September before travelling across the continent in October and November. Tickets for their show at London’s Omeara are on sale now.
