Earlier in the year, Oneohtrix Point Never announced that he’d be releasing a soundtrack for the new film ‘Good Time’ (which won Cannes’ award for Best Soundtrack this year, no less).
The film, directed by Josh and Benny Safdie, stars Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Jason Leigh, and is a dark thriller about New York’s underworld. Speaking of his connection to the directors at the time, Daniel Lopatin said that they “share an affection and reverence for bruised and battered stuff, and I think we both feel this urge to enshrine the history as it is now, not as it was then. On our own terms”.
The soundtrack came out last month, but the Safdie brothers have gone and directed a video for Daniel’s collaboration with Iggy Pop, ‘The Pure & The Damned’. In it, Iggy’s turned into a zombified CGI model of himself and watches creepily on as R-Pattz and Benny have a bit of a rough time in the night. It included wolves and dead bodies. And a very creepy house. Enough said.
