Artificial Pleasure bring the unrest with ‘Wound Up Tight’
The band play London’s The Lexington on 12th December.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Artificial Pleasure.
Starting out with a brawny bass-line and Nine Inch Nails-nodding scratchiness, the latest to come from Artificial Pleasure is a shape-shifting beast; ingesting everything from Iggy Pop to ‘Let’s Dance’-era Bowie and spewing it all up again in a technicoloured plume.
‘Wound Up Tight’ is the title track of their new EP, out on 8th December. The track itself hints towards a permanent state of unrest. “It’s about feeling on edge, as if this state of anxiety and constant worry has now become normality,” explain the band over email. “It could be overthinking every phrase, worrying about what people say, comparing yourself to everyone else, or trying to second guess people.”
Artificial Pleasure are set to headline London’s Lexington on 12th December to celebrate the EP’s release.
