Yellow Days - Is Everything OK In Your World?

Less a cohesive body of work and more a stepping stone.

Rating:

Yellow Days has been selling out shows and inciting hysteria ever since the release of his debut EP, last year’s ‘Harmless Melodies’. Returning with a 13-track effort, hesitant to call itself a debut album but not quite a mixtape either, it’s clear there’s an endless pit of inspiration for George van den Broek to draw from. ‘Is Everything Ok In Your World?’ is a remarkably varied, sprawling collection.

Single ‘I Believe In Love’ is the clearest example of his gravelly vocals yet, while Rejjie Snow cameos on ‘Lately I’, a track that blurs the genre boundaries that Yellow Days already doesn’t particularly care for. Less a cohesive body of work and more a stepping stone, keep all eyes on Yellow Days.

Denai Moore could never have guessed when she was writing new LP ‘Modern Dread’ how prescient her fears might turn out to be. A bold, unapologetic next step, its arrival couldn’t be more timely.

Try A Little Tenderness: Dream Wife

Dream Wife spent their debut cementing themselves as a punk-spirited force to be reckoned with. On ‘So When You Gonna…’, the trio are taking a step back and finding inspiration in their softer side.
