Neu Pick: Tamino makes gorgeous entrance on ‘Habibi’

Tamino makes gorgeous entrance on ‘Habibi’

The debut single precedes a UK tour and is our Neu Pick of the day.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Tamino.

Tamino is the latest signing to Communion Records, and his first effort, the gorgeous ‘Habibi’, is today’s Neu Pick. The 21 year-old half Egyptian, half Belgian songwriter presents a flooring voice on his first effort, which is set above swelling synths and gorgeous, delicate piano.

His voice carries the track, and builds to a cacophonous finish, and it’s not a surprise to read that Tom Waits and Jeff Buckley are cited as heavy influences: ‘Habibi’ carries the same timeless, sorrow-drenched feel.

The singer is set to head out on a European tour in support of a debut EP, released on 4th May.
