Speedy Ortiz have announced a new headline tour for October, where they’ll play eight dates across the UK. Kicking things off in London at The Garage, the band will also play dates in Nottingham, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and others before finishing the tour in Bristol.
In April, Speedy Ortiz released their latest album ‘Twerp Verse’. Speaking to DIY about the album earlier this year, the band’s Sadie Dupuis told us of the new record: “I think the optimism of this record is that we can re-educate society… It’s not just a record for women to feel empowered, it’s for men to feel empowered to not be toxic, and to be a part of a movement of equality too. As a white person, there are also moments on the record where I’m thinking about my need to listen and be an ally, and not be at the centre of things.”

The track features on album ‘Twerp Verse’.
Succinct, wry, and in tune with its context, there’s plenty to unpick.
Speedy Ortiz were all ready to go with a curveball album of love songs, until the election of Donald Trump shook the world. Heading back to the drawing board, ‘Twerp Verse’ is the result of a rethink.
The album is out next Friday (27th April), and streaming in full on NPR.
