Ryan Adams accused of sexual misconduct by several women

The musician denies the claims, which were published by The New York Times yesterday.

Ryan Adams has been accused of emotional and sexual misconduct by several former partners and other associates, according to a new report by The New York Times.

In the report, interviews with several women known by Ryan detail accounts of abusive and controlling behaviour, including the musician’s ex-wife Mandy Moore, as well as artists Phoebe Bridgers and Courtney Jaye.

He has also been accused of inappropriate online sexual communications with a woman referred to as ‘Ava’, who was allegedly 14 when they began communicating online.

Ryan has denied the claims, both through his lawyer in the report and on social media, writing on Twitter: “the picture that this article paints is upsettingly inaccurate. Some of its details are misrepresented; some are exaggerated; some are outright false. I would never have inappropriate interactions with someone I thought was underage. Period.” You can read his full post below.

Update: The FBI is investigating the messages between Adams and the underage fan, according to a “law enforcement official with knowledge of the matter,” reports the New York Times.

In addition, singer-songwriter and model Karen Elson has shared she had “a traumatising experience” with Adams via Instagram. “While I don’t want to share my specific experience,” she added, “reading the NY Times story is profoundly healing.”

Variety is reporting that Adams' album 'Big Colors', set to be released in April, has been shelved.
