Honeyblood’s second album ‘Babes Never Die’ saw a duo racing out of the blocks with exuberance on a record full of fierce choruses. On follow-up ‘In Plain Sight’, with the band now the solo project of Stina Tweeddale, the only thing to say is: ‘Where did it all go wrong? ‘In Plain Sight’ is an overwhelmingly dour listen. Stina’s voice slides in on opener ‘She’s A Nightmare’ with what sounds like barely-concealed boredom, and things rarely get more inspired. ‘Take The Wheel’ lifts things slightly, her voice carrying a creepy snarl over distorted thuds, but moments of such interest are very few. Team that with tinny, disconnected production, and you’ve got a huge, surprising misstep from a band who you thought were just hitting their stride.
