Listen: Georgia features on ‘City In Lights’, the latest single from Africa Express

The Mahotella Queens, Otim Alpha, Nick Zinner also feature on the kaleidoscopic single
With Africa Express’ third album ‘EGOLI’ on its way, the collective have shared a shimmering new track ‘City In Lights’, which features the brilliant Georgia on lead vocals.
Also featuring The Mahotella Queens, Otim Aplha and Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, it’s the third single to be released from the record, and follows the Damon Albarn-featuring ‘Become The Tiger’.
“City In Lights is about Hilda Tloubatla - or Mama as we called her - and the journey she made from her township to the studio to join The Mahotella Queens in 1960’s Johannesburg,” says Georgia.
“She shared her incredible story with me and I was so inspired by her ambition, her love for music and her incredible bravery to leave her family at such a young age to follow her dreams.”
EGOLI is out on 12th July, and also features Damon Albarn, Blue May, Gruff Rhys and Ghetts, as well as some of South Africa’s biggest and most exciting musicians.
