Iceland Airwaves postponed to 2022 due to COVID-19 restrictions

The festival will return to Reykjavik next year

Iceland Airwaves has been postponed for the second year in a row due to continued COVID-19 restrictions.

The Reykjavik festival cancelled its 2020 event last August, hoping to return in November 2021. Now though, ongoing restrictions in Iceland mean the festival now won’t take place until late next year.

“Due to new and ongoing Covid-19 measures imposed by the Icelandic Government, Iceland Airwaves has been postponed to 2022,” the festival wrote. “The new dates for the festival will be Wednesday, November 2nd through to Saturday November 5th, 2022.

“Even though it is our belief that events like Iceland Airwaves can now be executed in a safe and responsible manner, using all available safety measures, the authorities apparently disagree.”

Iceland Airwaves 2021 was set to feature the likes of Metronomy, Squid, Dry Cleaning, Lynks Arlo Parks, Sad Night Dynamite, Laufey and Smoothboi Ezra. No line-up details have yet been revealed for 2022.
