Watch Chartreuse offer up ‘Deep Fat’ video

It celebrates the release of their new EP!
With their new EP ‘Is It Autumn Already?’ out today, Chartreuse are revealing the video for ‘Deep Fat’.
Speaking on the video, the band say, “For Deep Fat video, Mike came up with the concept of having a folklore (goblin) like creature wandering around the Black Country. It seemed crazy at the time but after a thought we realised it perfectly portrays a lot of the themes of the song; fear of moving away, the feeling on not belonging, being an alien in a small close-knit town.
“We spent a solid afternoon looking through old Black Country folk tales and myths that piqued our interest and happened upon an old miner’s tale describing how they would not go into the mines the next day if they saw a flock of geese flying overhead. They believed them to be ‘Gabriel’s hounds’ and thought to have brought bad luck and injury to the miners.
“Loving the concept we ran with idea and sent it over to Pete Cadman who drummed up the amazing bird-person costume you see in the video.
“His direction brought life to the video and coupled with the glum, sleepy town vibe of the Black Country we feel the video captured the pity and relatability of this “bird-person” character that we wanted.”
