Festivals Yard Act, PVA & more feature in new documentary around Reeperbahn Festival’s ANCHOR Award

The documentary was filmed in the lead up to last year’s ANCHOR Award.

DIY favourites Yard Act and PVA are featured in a brand new documentary about Reeperbahn Festival’s 2021 edition of their ANCHOR Award.

Over the past six years, Germany’s Reeperbahn Festival have been focussed on giving upcoming new acts an extra bit of support with their ANCHOR Award. Designed to highlight the best new acts coming through the international music scene, previous contenders for the ANCHOR include the likes of Shame, Jade Bird, Parcels, Celeste and many more.

In the lead up the prize - which is awarded at the Reeperbahn Festival itself - a panel of judges, including producer extraordinaire Tony Visconti, Tayla Parx and Emeli Sandé, battle it out to decide on their favourite act, who’s then crowned at a special ANCHOR gala at Hamburg’s St. Pauli Theater. What’s more, because last year’s ANCHOR saw the jury and nominees finally united in the flesh, the festival have put together a very special documentary - aptly-titled ‘Next Gen Music Heroes’ - to showcase the six acts nominated, and explore everything that goes into deciding on the winner.

Presented by Eurovision legend Conchita Wurst - aka Tom Neuwirth - the documentary follows those previously mentioned DIY faves Yard Act and PVA, as well as other nominees including Germany’s May The Muse and Lie Ning, as well as Austrian acts Florence Arman and OSKA.
