Mixtape Review daine - Quantum Jumping
3-5 StarsFormidable focus for someone so new.

For an artist who made her name casually blending hyper-pop, emo and electropunk, ‘Quantum Jumping’ makes for an intriguing listen: we find daine exercising uncharacteristic restraint, reeling herself in to focus on one facet of her sound. Nothing here ever quite hits the concentration of noise showcased on earlier singles: something which could feel like a loss if it didn’t seem so intentional. Instead, the record slow-burns along, reaching into dark ambience (‘glitter’, ‘new ground’) and dizzying density (‘idc’). Her storytelling remains striking, and her production sharp and evocative, everything crafted purposefully, and showing formidable focus for someone so new.
