Listen: Mount Kimbie Unveil ‘You Took Your Time feat. King Krule’

King Krule aka Archy Marshall lends his fiery vocals twice on the new MK album.

Sticking resolutely to the ‘Fault Less Youth’ aspect of their new album title, Mount Kimbie have brought on board one of the most prodigious young talents to lend his vocals to a couple of tracks on ‘Cold Spring Fault Less Youth’, out 27th May via Warp.

King Krule sings on ‘Meter, Pale, Tone’ and this one: ‘You Took Your Time’. It’s the first time we’ve really heard the London producers lend their atmospheric cuts to all-out songwriting, with Archy Marshall popping the microphone out of sheer intensity by this song’s climax. He marvels on ‘hatred’ and ‘violent calm held in the depths of a tyrant’s palm’, each word more exposed than the previous. By the five-minute mark a pressure change seeps in, firmer drums and defeatist cries bursting out into the foreground.
