Suede Reveal New Track ‘Barriers’, Album ‘Bloodsports’ Due March

Brett Anderson and co are back, only this time they’re in tasteful soft focus. Check out new track ‘Barriers’ now.

Yes, Suede are back, and properly this time, with new material and everything - though from their new press photos, frontman Brett Anderson is the only one not suffering from a case of the flattering soft focus. You’d never catch Dave Rowntree doing that.

A fifth studio album for the reunited Brit-poppers, ‘Bloodsports’, is due for March of this year, with a single ‘It Starts And Ends With You’ planned before hand. If you can’t wait that long for a taster, they’re already giving away a new track ‘Barriers’ as a free download.

The startling (or perhaps not so startling) thing about ‘Barriers’ is that it’s definitely Suede. You can listen to it here.

Speaking about the new song, and it’s accompanying album ‘Bloodsports’, Anderson told NME: ‘After a year of sweating and bleeding over the record it’s finally finished so we wanted to get some music out there as soon as we could. ‘Barriers’ isn’t the first single but we are proud of it enough just to chuck it out there and thought that it’s pulsing, romantic swell somehow summed up the feel of the album quite nicely . The album is called ‘Bloodsports’. It’s about lust, it’s about the chase, it’s about the endless carnal game of love. It was possibly the hardest we’ve ever made but certainly the most satisfying. Its 10 furious songs for me have reclaimed from ourselves what Suede was always about; drama, melody and noise.’

Suede are set for an Alexandra Palace show to coincide with the album release on Saturday March 30th.
