Can we proclaim The Decemberists the saviours of everything yet? The band’s latest studio album ‘The King Is Dead’ has entered the US Billboard Top 200 chart at #1. With a bullet. Maybe.

Colin Meloy and co’s sixth album shifted 93,567 copies in it’s first week on sale, which more than doubled the 44,000 units sold by last week’s chart toppers Cake. The band’s last record - 2009’s ‘The Hazards Of Love’ - sold 19,000 copies in it’s first seven days on sale. Bar equals raised.
