News Watch: Mac DeMarco Airs Video For ‘My Kind Of Woman’

In typical oddball fashion, the video shows the Canadian artist donning makeup and a wig to construct a female version of himself.

Today is Mac DeMarco's birthday. How do I know that? Because I am a stalkerish superfan, of course. But also because it is my birthday too. Huzzah! Happy 23rd birthday Mac, congratulations on being 12 months younger than me.

Anyway, presumably as a personal gift, the Canadian artist has unveiled a video for his excellent song 'My Kind Of Woman', taken from his excellent second album '2' - released last year on Captured Tracks.

In true slightly oddball style - a YouTube video uploaded in 2012 shows Mac 'covering' U2's 'Beautiful Day' live while completely naked - the video sees DeMarco donning makeup and a wig to gradually construct a female version of himself.

The video's director Alex Lill described the decision:

“We wanted to do something different, so changed the track’s original intention of being a love song between a man and a woman to become an ode between a man and himself—his feminine self.”
