THE GIG
Valentina, Fyfe - London, The Social (free)
A free show connecting two artists who soundtracked the past spring, one an emerging voice, the other a more established one striking gold. Valentina’s recent ‘Wolves’ EP on Greco-Roman remains a triumph, while Fyfe’s each step is being followed with excitement a-plenty.
THE SONG
X PRIEST X - Samurai
Florida’s Madeline Priest tows a minimal synth pop route under her X PRIEST X guise, backed by the production of Chandler Strang and David Kazyk. ‘Samurai’ carries few of the orientali-styled traits you might expect, given the title. What stands out instead is a direct, punchy-as-hell introduction, stopping short right on the three-and-a-half-minute mark, perfectly aware of just how perfectly poised it is as a debut.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
