News Albums Of 2007: #6 Les Savy Fav - Let’s Stay Friends
’s fourth full-length was nothing if not that well-worn phrase ‘eagerly anticipated’; their last new material was released in 2001, with just the rarities compilation ‘Inches’ to fill in the gap back in 2004. ‘Let’s Stay Friends’ is proof that a break is sometimes what’s needed - the New Yorkers returned with a brilliant record, if a bit of a grower.
If it’s comparisons you’re after, then how about Talking Heads (the bands reportedly attended the same art school), Pixies and Grandaddy to name just three. If it’s the kind of X factor which wouldn’t get as far as the TV show of the same name that you’re longing for, bearded frontman Tim Harrington regularly strips to his underwear.
