Playlist All We Are: On the road
Running alongside forthcoming dates with London Grammar, Liverpool’s All We Are dig into the tour bus stereo.
Liverpool’s All We Are are counting down the weeks to release of their self-titled debut album, which already looks like being a surefire bet for 2015’s first must-have release. That’s partly because it’s coming out 5th January, before the last bite of a leftover turkey sandwich can even be digested, but this is also a first work that’s set to build on their more-than promising psych-dance fusion.
Before the release of their eponymous debut, All We Are are on the road for a run of shows with London Grammar, plus a couple of headline gigs of their own. In between recording their debut with Dan Carey, they’ve also been touring with the likes of Warpaint and Jungle - so these guys are no strangers to life on the road.
Given this magnetism to the tour bus, the trio have put together an exclusive playlist for DIY, featuring the songs that crop up in-between cities.
Listen to All We Are’s ‘On the Road’ playlist here.
Below, they provide a little explanation on what defines the playlist:
“We’re on tour in Europe at the moment with London Grammar, and when you’re on tour that means you’re mostly trapped in a moving can (And usually you have one in both hands). And with a balanced diet comes a variety of moods. We’ve collected these emotions and stuck them in a playlist. Wanna get a feel for how it is to be driving with AWA? Kind of goes a bit like this:”
Chance The Rapper - Good Ass intro
For some reason this is always the first track that comes on when we plug in our devices, we do love a bit of Chance. [ Listen]
Dr Dre - Nuthin’ but a “G” thang
Nothing but a Guro thang (ed: That’s All We Are’s ace bassist and vocalist, fyi). We also substitute ‘Death Row’ for ‘Domino’ in this tune. [Listen]
Big Boi - Bowtie
This is our driving into a city tune. [Listen]
Warren G - Regulate
This one is for Lynton (our FOH). [Listen]
Outkast - Prototype
Baby making music, not that we do any of that in the van. [Listen]
FKA Twigs - Two Weeks
The length of our tour. [Listen]
Disclosure (feat London Grammar) - Help Me Lose my Mind
One from the boys featuring all round sweethearts London Grammar. [Listen]
Caribou - Can’t Do Without You
Loving this track so much we’re going to make it our own. [Listen]
SOHN - The Wheel
“Reinventing the wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel!!!!!” [Listen]
Lana Del Ray - West Coast
What can you say? It’s Lana Del Rey. [Listen]
Jai Paul - Jasmine
Stand out track from a stand out album(ish). More please. [Listen]
Banks - This Is What It Feels Like
“Have you ever been hurt by someone?” [Listen]
Kendrick Lamar - Money Trees
We listen to Kendrick a LOT, it could have been any of his, but this is the one. [Listen]
War on Drugs - Red Eyes
Best road music ever, pure euphoria. [Listen]
