Denmark has got itself another electronic gem.

There is a poetry in broken english that native speakers can’t quite manage. So when Averos describe themselves as ‘Parlor-Techno’, you can help but wonder if they’re bang on the money or have had their true meaning warped in translation. The duo, hailing from Copenhagen, have slightly more pressing concerns on their mind rather than the milieu and intricacies of a foreign language.

Theodore Clausen and Natal Zaks are the two boys - well, men - behind the project, putting their stuff out through Zak’s own Farver Records. Unsurprisingly, given the rich vein of form that their city has found itself in of late, Denmark has got itself another electronic gem - their debut EP ‘Theme One’ showed a lot of promise, but it is the early samples taken from the follow up (catchily titled ‘Theme Two’) that look to deliver.

‘Forte’ is the appropriately named track that rams that fact home better than any other - a stifled club classic that just let the big beats creep in at the edges, Averos spend most of their time building and building, atmosphere intensifying, whilst struggling to hold the banger that lies beneath back. The fact that it’s not had every DJ worth their salt on the early-hours of Radio 1 banging on about it should be one of those things that the Twitterati get up in arms about, but at the time of writing there are only a couple of hundred people who can claim to have heard it. If this was a Stay + song, the blogosphere would have melted by now. By the time ‘Theme Two’ comes out, maybe it will.
