Perhaps to some it’d be easy to miss the appeal of Bare Pale, with their masked melody under layers of distortion within lo-fi, unmastered recordings. But it’s this very element that adds so much to their music. Like a fleeting glance of an attractive stranger from afar, your imagination makes up what you cannot perceive as pure perfection. The implication of beauty can often be stronger than the naked truth, but wouldn’t you rather have some intrigue to provide a romantic edge to the music you’re listening to? I know I would.
It’s clear the band carry this mysterious attitude with them at all times also. Regular blog readers, who’ve seen posts about the band before, will know they sent out blank emails to blogs with no information about themselves, only a link to their music. And that excites the blogosphere when you discover real substance behind the music also. And real substance we certainly have with Bare Pale’s underlying melody.
