The 90’s alt/grunge rock revival has been in bloom for the last couple of years and shows no signs of slipping up. It is a given that in dingy boozers across the country bands will be taking to the stage draped in denim about to give their fuzz pedals a work out. Most revivalists seem to favour a different brand of grunge dip dyed in pyschedlia or indie compared to the ordinal bunch of slackers. However Birdskulls give their shitty amps an intense pounding with some gnarly 90’s style noise.
Art Is Hard have nabbed them already with ‘Mispresume/Rolling Tongue’ set for a 17th December release, a perfect Christmas gift for you’re more alternative minded friend who looks good in a winter hat. ‘Mispresume’ was premiered on Neu recently sounding like the meeting point between Cloud Nothings pop-punk and Dinosaur JR at their most noisey. Calm riffs open ‘Ghost World’ but these serve as a red herring and the make the eruption of excitable noise even more rewarding, as the vocals are delivered with nothing less than pure conviction.
