Brooklyn’s Cerebral Ballzy have this week released their debut single ‘Insufficient Fare’, through Moshi Moshi Singles Club. We put our quickfire Q&A to frontman Honor Titus, who adds strength to our theory that anyone who loves Blink in their teens goes on to create AWESOME MUSIC when they’re older. Hooray.

Why did you start making music?
Drinking beer in Pugz’ basement. We were bored as shit and we watching that Cardiel documentary on repeat and we were like fuck it, let’s play something! Um we really just wanted to play something that Cardiel would skate to, at first.

How did you first break into doing it professionally?
Our first show ever was a CMJ gig at Pianos in the city. There’s a vid on YouTube. We look young and dumb. We’re still young and dumb.

Are you working on a full-length album yet?
We are. Kinda. We’re making songs now more than straightforward punk rants. We were on average like 18 when we started. And were older and wanna take not being serious a bit more seriously.

What’s the best thing about being a musician from Brooklyn?
People know what’s up. And I’m actually from Brooklyn and have been dealing with shit people don’t understand since I’ve been born. Brooklyn’s an inspiring place.

What has been your favourite music-related moment?
Hard question homie. EVERYTIME I HEAR TIME AFTER TIME by Cyndi Lauper.

When you first started to get into music, who was your favourite artist?
Ummmm IDK. I was raised listening to mad music. I remember being in 1997 running around the house to BIG PUN. IDK my Mom always played like Etta James and Sade and stuff and I really liked it. I really liked / like Blink 182

HIGHEST OLLIES IN THE WORLD. POPMAN!

What’s your most unappealing habit?
Orgasm addict.

Who would you most like to go on a huge world tour with?
Hard one. BLACK FLAG / SUICIDAL TENDENCIES / SLAYER / and our homies TRASH TALK.

Are there any parts of being in a band you’d leave out if you could?
Wouldnt change a thang baby.
