There is a palpable sense that an exciting noise-pop scene is developing in the UK right now. Toy have made an early claim for the position of ‘your new favourite band’ with a solid debut album. Neu favourites like Splashh, Shinies and Playlounge are picking up fans fast with each single release too. Enter Wichita’s latest signing and the newest contenders Cheatahs.
Comprising of an international mix of members from Germany, Canada, the U.S. and England, it’s hard to pin-point the definitive inspirations contributing to the music on display, but it’s rooted in 90’s Britpop and shoegaze. What is clear with Cheatahs’ sound is their ambitious intent. The band opt to draw maximum melody from their guitars with a refreshingly hi-fidelity approach to production. It’s a sound which is made to fill arenas with both resonance and a thrilling sense of life.
