Over the past couple of years word of the Copenhagen noise/punk scene have reached far beyond the Nordics, gathering fans all over the world and counting Iceage, Lower and Vår among its senior members. They’re far from the only ones however, as last year’s Copenhagen scene compilation ’Dokument #1’ on Posh Isolation, a label co-run by Loke Rahbek of Lust For Youth and Vår, showcased.

Noise pop quartet Communions was one of the smaller acts to appear on ’Dokument #1’, consisting of brothers Martin and Mads Rehof as well as Jacob van Deurs Formann and Frederik Lind Köppen. For ’Dokument #1’ the band contributed their debut track ’Cobblestones’, a soaring piece of noise pop more reminiscent of UK acts like Crushed Beaks than a sound usually associated with Copenhagen punk acts.

Earlier this year Communions released their debut 7” EP ’Cobblestones’ on Posh Isolation, with three new tracks joining the previously released title track. Self-recorded by the band in their rehearsal space and one of the members’ living room in Copenhagen the tracks retains the freshness and urgency of early demos, with a sense of romance about them, while being fully formed, showcasing strong writing and an ear for melody that doesn’t let slip.
