DIY it’s Christmas time: Dear Santa… Love Wolf Alice

Ahead of the festivities, we’ve asked bands to share their letters to Father Christmas. Here’s Theo from Wolf Alice with the band’s hopes for the New Year.

‘Tis well and truly the season of goodwill, dear readers. It’s that time for final tree adjustments, eggnog organisation and of course, the most important job of all. Getting those letters signed, sealed and delivered off to the North Pole should be the thing to take priority right now - how on earth will Santa know that you want a selfie stick otherwise?

Bands are no exception, and after winding down from a busy year, it’s absolutely critical that they remember to check in with the big guy in the red suit. Before they popped their letter in the postbox, though, we asked some musicians to give us a cheeky glimpse of what they want for Christmas, from future hopes to present wishlists.

Here’s Theo Ellis from Wolf Alice - on behalf of his band - with a snappily gift list:

Dear Santa,

This year for Christmas I would like …

1. Riskier riders, involving “danger fruits” or “rogue” beverages, I.e guava or everyone’s favourite spirit, Agwa.

2. The opportunity for fans to watch go pro feeds of their favourite band members entire tour experience in real time.

3. More of the same great new bands sharing stages. Last year bands like crows, the magic gang and bloody knees played a lot of amazing shows on the same line up. This kind of booking makes for some insane free gigs across the big smoke. In the case that this never happens again you should probably just go watch all of the above.

4. Would love to see some younger bands moving up on festival bills. So many breakthrough acts proved their mettle last year that it feels like time for a new generation of stage headliners.

5. Sam Conway.

6. Personal mixers at shows so that you can engage “the ideal mix”.

7. The ability to remix songs in my mind.

8. Chicken lollipops.

9. Miley Cyrus and Kathleen Hanna’s rumoured mega record.

Love,
Theo x
