Playlist DRILL: BRIGHTON - Blood Red Shoes’ tips on who to see
Brighton locals offer a guide to the first ever DRILL, curated by Wire.
This Thursday, the first ever DRILL : BRIGHTON takes place, a festival curated by Wire and devoted in-part to the seminal cult band and their continued influence. Special one-off performances are taking place, such as a world exclusive Swans and Wire collaboration, and an unique British Sea Power set with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet, within the gigantic, echoing chamber of the All Saints Church.
Spanning four days, the multi-venue fest also welcomes in the likes of Courtney Barnett, Mercury Prize winners Young Fathers and Gold Panda. There’s also local gems Blood Red Shoes, riding high on the back of their self-titled, 2014 LP. Given their influences and city status, it’s no surprise to learn that both Laura-Mary Carter and Steven Ansell are beyond excited, chomping at the bit to share space with some of their favourite acts.
Below, Blood Red Shoes have given us a rundown of the five must see acts performing at DRILL : BRIGHTON, coupled with a recommended track. Listen to the playlist in full.
