News Exclusive: Listen: Crowns Unveil Mixtape

With the release of their debut record, ‘Stitches In The Flag’ on Monday, songwriter Bill Jefferson has put together an exclusive mixtape for us; listen to it below.

Luke Kelly - The Black Velvet Band
I think Luke Kelly had one the most powerful and emotive voices ever recorded. All of the songs he sang as a Dubliner just grab you by the balls!

Bangers - The Mitigation Committee
The Bangers boys are friends of ours from back home, we always have their albums on repeat in the tour van.

The Clash - Death or Glory
ONE of my favourite Clash songs at the moment. We gonna fight, ‘til you lose, We gonna raise, trouble, We gonna raise, hell. Gets you nicely revved up!

The White Stripes - I’m Finding It Harder To Be A Gentlemen Everyday
Love the lyrical sentiment. Jack White is a genius for writing songs from fresh points of view.

Ramones - Danny Says
I once wrote a song and then I heard this and realised it was almost exactly the same… maybe not as good though.

Willis Earl Beale - Evening’s Kiss
Willis is intriguing and this song shows he has a sensitive side.

The Gaslight Anthem - Desire
This is my favorite song off of their latest album, it’s a perfect pop song played by tattooed punks!

The Patrick James Pearson Band - American Lover
The Patrick James Pearson Band are from our home town. The band is made up incredible musicians. And this song feels like a journey into the kaleidoscope that is Patrick’s mind.

Filthy Thieving Bastards - Red Roses
I love the album ‘Our Fathers Sent Us’ - it seems so out of the blue, and it is all amazing folk/punk songs.

Deep River Boys - Honey Honey
This song is now a standard of any Cornish sing along. This recording shows its roots as an American barber shop song.

Crowns’ new album ‘Stitches In The Flag’ is out now via Shipwreck Records.
