News Fair Ohs

Fair Ohs manage to hone that backwards melodic charm and turn it into a pop monster.

You get the feeling that most bands these days want you to know the bare minimum about them: that they feel the urge to make you sweat in order to dig up even the most basic of information about who they are, what they do and, god forbid, their past. Fair Ohs are not that kind of band. Their website provides you with an FAQ about everything you might want to know about the trio. So let’s get it out of the way: They are Eddy Frankel, Matt Flag and Joe Ryan, they’re from London, they’ve recorded their album with Rory Atwell which they’re putting out on their own label, Honey High Records, whilst also running Dream Beach Records and Suplex Cassettes. Oh, and Joe also plays in The One and Warm Brains.

That is the boring bit. The exciting part is their debut single, ‘Everything Is Dancing’. It’d be easy to call it sun drenched – especially considering the video, which features a super sized Batman in a paddling pool – but there’s more to it than that. Though it’s a style that many bands on Woodsist have been pumping out for the past couple of years, Fair Ohs manage to hone that backwards melodic charm and turn it into a pop monster, complete with a chorus that makes you absolutely want to shout it out, the singer’s grazed voice seeming to implore that you do so.

Maybe they were making a point about the conduct of other bands around at the moment with their glut of information; most likely not. Either way, Fair Ohs have already manage to provide track one on your soundtrack of the summer. It wouldn’t be huge surprise if they followed it up with an album in a similar vein.
