Interview Spandau Ballet talk new documentary, Soul Boys of The Western World

The band wax lyrical on the film, friendship and being at the forefront of a burgeoning scene.

With acclaimed documentary, Soul Boys of The Western World premiering in London on 30th September at the Royal Albert Hall, DIY headed, bizarrely, to a strip club near Holborn to interview the subjects of the film, Spandau Ballet.

Why a strip club? Well the venue was once the infamous Blitz Club, the home of the New Romantic scene headed up by the likes of Steve Strange and the very place that saw the Spandau Ballet boys perform their first gig.

So with the waft of baby oil and shattered dreams in the air, we sat down with drummer John Keeble, bassist Martin Kemp, saxophone and percussion maestro Steve Norman, guitarist and songwriter Gary Kemp and frontman Tony Hadley to wax lyrical on the film, friendship and being at the forefront of a burgeoning scene.

Soul Boys of The Western World launches in cinemas across the UK & Ireland a one off live satellite premiere screening event on Tuesday 30th September (see spandauballetthemovie.com for tickets) and goes on general release from 3rd October.
