Neu Granit

A lesson in the application of beauty.

Spreading across Barcelona’s church spires and giant cathedrals is a sound that first emerged in Baltimore. We can predict as many things as the heart desires for 2012; one thing that won’t go away is obvious (sometimes labelled lazy, but a lot of the time they’re spot-on) journalistic comparisons. Granit, hailing from Spain’s cultural capital, sound just like Beach House. There’s no escaping it.

The light rhythms of the drum machine, the seeping organ synths, the soaring vocals. Debut song ‘Aresta’ is a perfect re-creation of Beach House’s ‘Devotion’ album; a lesson in the application of beauty. It’s the duo’s first song, taken from a forthcoming EP with the intent of setting a few hearts alight.
