News French Kissing

They’ve ticked the ‘East London / been released on tape’ axis-of-hipster shaped box.

When French Kissing list Spinal Tap’s all-time-bloody-classic ‘Gimmie Some Money’ as an influence they may be being humorous. Alternatively, they may not. Truth is, we can hear it and it’s awesome; awesome because it sounds great, and awesome because it gives us an excuse to embed this. Go, Nigel, go!

A bit more awesome than we are. It’s taken us too long to get round to tipping our illustrious viewers off to the garage surf quartet (sub genre win - Ed). We’d like to say we’ve been watching the ‘Tap video above on repeat. We haven’t.

‘Oh Suzanne’, released earlier this year through Sleep All Day, is a perfectly concentrated example of why French Kissing are great. Sixties (or maybe even fifties, who’s counting) tinged guitar and a summery disposition put it right at the top of every summer mixtape we’ll make in the next few months.

Add to that a MySpace profile picture of a girl kissing a dog (your mind is probably sicker than reality there, it’s actually pretty sweet), and the fact they’ve ticked the ‘East London / been released on tape’ axis-of-hipster shaped box, makes this lot worth keeping on radar. We’d include a daddy-o, but that would be a bit too far.
