Neu Girlfriends

The perfect life soundtrack for when it’s too hot to think.

You may be under the impression that Summer 2010 is supposed to be all hazy pop, muffled beats and wistful longing, but here, the middle months of the year are always best soundtracked by punk; anything from Ramones to what angry 15-year-olds listened to before My Chemical Romance came along.

Which is why we’re so in love with Girlfriends, and specifically the tracks on new 7’ ‘Gov’t Seizure’: its combination of loud, thrashy noise (predominantly the title track) and surf-rock (mostly flip-side ‘Creep Stuff’) are the perfect life soundtrack for when it’s too hot to think.

(yes, we’ll even forgive them the cassette)

There are free tracks available on the band’s Bandcamp and last.fm, while ‘Gov’t Seizure’ can be bought directly from Aurora 7 here.
