DIY labels have an appetite for bands that wear recently purchased Sonic Youth t-shirts and wield their Fender Jaguars or Jazzmasters to create layers of sludgy grunge, which is why it’s no surprise that Honeyslide have been snapped up by the DIY label Critical Heights. The London three piece release a 10” double A side featuring tracks ‘Sugar Routine’ and a remastered version of ‘Drippin’’, which should instantly make them one of Critical Heights most coveted and loved groups.

Honeyslide possess the wonderful ability of translating a feeling that’s conjured up during the haziest of sticky, summer days. Their sprawled out tracks are each sugar-coated in layer upon layer of fuzzy hooks. Funnily enough it’s the sluggish nature of the tracks that makes them so captivating. Many contemporaries are obsessed with the idea of pummelling out the loudest noise possible through their amps, but it’s the strange, soothing lullaby quality that differentiates Honeyslide from their peers and makes them stand out.
