It’s easy to overstate the impact of a band one song into their career, but in the case of K.I.D.S, you get the sense that something oddly wonderful is soon to burst out from beyond London’s rusty seams.

The debut track, ‘Ragged Old Angels’, edges beyond the six minute mark - remarkable considering how shiny and glossy it would otherwise be, were it not for pulsating bass notes and a trembling of sky-reaching synths. It’s as if Metric put the brakes on, with Emily Haines and co. deciding to scrap immediacy in favour of something more self-indulgent but all the more devastating.

Rumours abound as to how big a deal K.I.D.S already are. One Icona Pop seal of approval Facebook post, combined with mutterings of big-name management guiding the band’s early movements - it’s the distinct, familiar whiff of a major label baby step. But none of this matters: If K.I.D.S don’t already have big bucks backing, they’ll soon have it emerging from all angles.
