Letters to Fiesta are a little camera shy, and when you listen to their music you’ll know why. With members culled from both Manchester and the Lake District, their single ‘Tears Apart’ sounds like a druidic juxtaposition of the nocturnal metropolis with the distinctly rural Celtic. Their alt-pop instrumentation underscores a more magical sense of harmonies, manifested in Anna-Louisa Etherington’s piercing vocals and synths.
But it doesn’t end there. The quartet’s debut EP ‘Aphorism’ is a haunting ride. The Kate Bush-esque ‘Stay Young’ is an atmospheric opus of beautiful singing, inhuman shrieking and caterwauling banshee guitar soloing. They’re a band who don’t quite know the meaning of dull, only understanding things in binary: all-out or reserved, loud or quiet, light or dark. It makes for an intriguing and well-produced listen, and a haunting journey.
You can expect a double A-side single from the group out sometime in May with an album sometime after. Perhaps what’s most intriguing about this band is not where they are now, although they are miles above their peers, but where they could be. The sky’s the limit, or in their case, somewhere between Scaffell Pike and the moon.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
