A fusion between rap and the production values and delivery of RnB.

Being prolific is easy - any old lo-fi band can pump out enough tracks to fill an iPod given a week and the right Mac. Doing so and remaining consistently brilliant is the difficult thing, though Lewis Allen doesn’t seem to find that to be such an issue.

Putting out slick tracks under only his first name, those only really versed in the mainstream should naturally be drawn to making a comparison with Drake given the fusion between rap and the production values and delivery of RnB. Whether or not Lewis would be impressed with the link is another matter entirely, with his efforts seemingly devoid of the syrupy pandering of his revered counterpart. Given the amount of tracks that have been made available of late though, you could see parallels with any number of people, reminiscent at times of Renaissance man Donald Glover’s Childish Gambino raps, along with verses coated in viscera.

He’s only getting better, too – April saw him releasing two mixtapes, following another put out in March. ‘Penthouse in the Apocalypse’ is perhaps the best of the trio, a more concise snapshot of an artist who seems to have more ideas per week than Eminem has had in the past decade of his career. Who knows – maybe he’s been stockpiling rhymes and beats over all that time, though if he has, it’s impressive he’d know what would be fresh in 2011 well in advance. Given the amount of skills Lewis has already shown he possesses, the addition of premonition to the list would not be an outrageous addition.
