Super Best Friends Club release ‘People We Forget This Is Love’ this week. A 30 minute exploration of “optimism, nudity and blissed out pop,” the EP is available to stream below via Bandcamp alongside a few words from the band on each of the tracks, including an 8-minute Casio infused epic and “possibly the world’s first kraut rock ballet.”

1. Evolution
Possibly the world’s first kraut rock ballet. For years we wanted to write this tune but there was always this sort of jazz head inside us that stopped it happening. We kept on putting cross rhythms and slow bits instead of just keeping the tempo up and playing loud. I love CAN, Tago Mago, I love that quote from Jaki Liebezeit ‘I don’t play rhythm, I play time.’ Don’t slow down, don’t get confused, just hit the groove and keep playing until the clocks collapse.

2. Sunshine. Super Megatron!
A love letter to Slagmalsklubben. As many Casio keyboards as we could find. A big hairy over-excited YES to all the different ideas and thoughts you can find in six musicians in one bedroom. A song for robots and light and transformation.

3. People We Forget This Is Love
Because we’re people, we forget this is love but people this is love. I remember sitting in James’s house jamming out to this tune and being in raptures, so so delighted with life and music and the truth of this tune. That it’s human to forget that everything is love, but This Is Love, and because we’re people we forget, that’s what we do because we’re people. But it’s love, all the time. You can just say it round and round and feel warmer and warmer and better and better.

4. Universe, Universe
A frantic prayer to all things. It’s the feeling that you give it a huge go, you try massively hard to connect and tune in. You go to Vipassana courses, five rhythms sessions, therapy workshops, tantra retreats, free-jazz concerts but still you feel disconnected from the one-ness which is everything everywhere all the time. So it’s like “Universe, please, I want you to be my lover. I leave all these messages on your phone, I write you all these letters and you hardly ever reply.” And still, all we can do is open wide, love a little better. Bow a little deeper.
