Mix #26: Ejecta

Neu Mix #26: Ejecta

Joel Ford and Leanne Macomber combine to dramatic, synth-spliced effect on an exclusive mix.

Ejecta

is the project of Joel Ford (producer extraordinare, one half of Ford + Lopatin) and Neon Indian’s Leanne Macomber. It’s difficult to imagine the collaboration on paper. Ford’s own work tends to search into deep, troubling territory, while Neon Indian have always been ones to flick a summertime-switch, taking acid-washed synth-pop to warped new heights. When they combine, Ejecta sway between what you’d expect (sweet pop with a twist) and something less predictable. There’s more to these two musicians than their previous projects. Ejecta, then, is a completely new guise in which to express conventional ideas through a fresh-faced routine. Similarly, the pair’s exclusive mix circuits various oddities while pushing them through the customary Ejecta aesthetic. No stone’s left unturned, here. It’s a further affirmation of how well the two work together.

Ejecta’s debut album ‘Dominae’ is out now via Happy Death.
