The amazing Australian-based Mosmon Alder are bringing musical joy to the world and everyone should listen. Inspired by novelists such as Kafka, lead singer Valdis Valodze’s deep, distinctive vocal leads the listener through the swirling sonic world created by the other five music makers. Valdis has a really interesting and refreshing approach to songwriting that raises MA way above so many other bands.
Their debut single ‘Raisin Heart’ (due for release on 25th June) is brilliant, emotive and beautiful. Delicate choral-style backing vocals lighten the beautifully gloomy mood and place the band somewhere between The National and Noah & The Whale (obviously a bloody great place to be). Another track off their upcoming EP, ‘Mr Pinkney & The Beast’ is slightly more upbeat, displays true musicianship and features a fine flute solo that Ron Burgundy would be more than proud of.
Mosman Alder show real promise. If their EP is anything to go by, they’ll be huge.
Debut single ‘Raisin Heart’ due for release on 25th June, followed by the EP ‘Burn Bright’ on 2nd July.
