Leeds producer Stuart Thomas blends organic percussion with a breathtaking, kaleidoscopic backdrop of warm, evolving synthetics, to help produce what might be the most beautiful set of early works DIY has set its ears on for some time. Strictly, one could class this as ambient music, but it has a modern-day edge that turns it into a more accessible being.
A glistening body of warping, progressive sounds help define each of Thomas’ songs, all available for isolated consumption up on his Soundcloud page. You can’t imagine anybody being immune to the sheer emotional resonance of these tracks, not even the most stone-cold of souls. If Thomas’ next work gets any prettier than this, we might have to pinch ourselves to check we’re not dreaming.
