Feather light synths and twinkling samples.

The YouTube channel of Palmistry is an indictment of the act itself. “Liked” videos include The xx and Holy Other. Whilst the accompanying video for ‘Night Truths’ is blurred vision of a London night. It compliments the atmosphere of the actual music.

Back-street sirens are associated with trauma, so to open ‘Night Truths’ with such a sound seems apt – this is clearly a song about heartbreak (“I still remember when you would scream my name / We’ll never be close again”). The feather light synths and twinkling samples compound such vulnerability. But a breakup is more than sad introspection; there’s the inevitability of anger. And so, presented are moments of heavy, dub-like synths and drums.

‘Night Truths’ is as beautiful as it is harsh. Musically, it tussles between high and low, drum-and-bass and pop. But more importantly, it’s an insight into a struggle more personal.
