Advertorial content Pick of the bunch: Eight upcoming DHP gigs you need to be at

From Bikini Kill to The Flaming Lips, here are just a handful of the must-see shows that the promoters are putting on this year.

Any music fan will agree: there’s something so special about seeing a favourite band live. Whether it be for the very first time - or the fiftieth! - there’s something about the energy of a gig that can never truly be translated. Like catching lightning in a bottle, a good show can set the mood of an entire band’s career. That’s something that promoters DHP know all too well.

So here, we’re highlighting some of the stand-out gigs that they’ve got coming up over the rest of the year. From The Flaming Lips’ massive Brixton show, to the return of riotgrrl’s very own Bikini Kill, via the soulful intricacy of Nilüfer Yanya, we can assure you, there’s something for everyone in this bunch.

Bikini Kill – O2 Academy Brixton – Monday 10th June & Tuesday 11th June

Kathleen Hanna’s Bikini Kill will hit UK soil this summer and it’s an incredibly exciting prospect - need we really say anything more?! Tickets.

The Flaming Lips – O2 Academy Brixton – Saturday 7th September

Wayne Coyne et al will once again be bringing their surreal stage show to London crowds later this year, but will there be sorbing? Will there be tinsel-covered robots? The sky’s the limit for this one. Tickets.

FUR - London Scala - 25th September

Purveyors of 60s-influenced guitars and nostalgic sounds, this band may be well-versed in viral hits - yes, we’re still talking about ‘If You Know That I’m Lonely’ - this Brighton band are definitely ones to catch live, just to see if they live up to the hype. Tickets.

THYLA - London Electrowerkz - 15th October

Having joined in the British invasion of this year’s SXSW - where they also played the DIY Stage - the Brighton quartet are back on home soil and will be taking on the Angel venue later this year. Tickets.

Mirrors Festival - various venues - 2nd November

Once again, Mirrors is returning to London, but this time in a slightly new guise - moving from its Hackney home to more central climes, this time it’ll be taking over Camden with the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, American Football and loads more. Tickets.

Nilüfer Yanya - London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire - 19th November

Fresh from releasing her gorgeous debut album ‘Miss Universe’ earlier this year, Nilüfer Yanya will be offering up some of its soulful highlights at her biggest show yet. Don’t miss out! Tickets.

Whitney – Roundhouse – Friday 29th November

Having already spilled some of the beans to us about their follow-up to ‘Light On The Lake’, Whitney will be heading our way at the end of 2019 to (hopefully) preview some of that sweet, sweet new material. Tickets.
