Interview Prides chat the DIY all-dayer and new material

Synth-loving Scots headline our all-dayer at Tufnell Park Dome, 2nd October.

Last week, we announced the DIY all-dayer 2016, with tons of ace bands set to take over London’s Tufnell Park Dome on 2nd October.

Headliners Prides have been locked away in the studio ever since a show at London Koko last November, and this will be their first appearance in the capital in almost a year.

Their headline spot arrives after ‘Rome’, a gigantic banger of a new track, released midway through studio sessions for their second album.

We decided it was time to get the scoop on what Prides have been up to. Turns out, a new album is due out midway through 2017. And they’ll be playing a couple of new songs live for the first time at the all-dayer!

Prides are joined by Will Joseph Cook, Trudy & the Romance, Eat Fast, Gengahr (DJs) and some very special guests. Get tickets via DICE and SeeTickets.

Rome’ is massive, congrats. Is it a sign of what to expect from a new album?

Yeah I think it’s a good indication! Or certainly on the way. We’re pushing ourselves and our songwriting all the time, and ‘Rome’ was a track that as soon as we wrote it, we wanted to share. To be honest, we’re just having a lot of fun seeing how the new songs come together.

I know you can’t say too much about new music, but when did it all start coming together?

We’d been so busy last year that we were dying to get back into the studio. Really as soon as pen hit paper we were flying. We did a few weeks locked away in a cabin beside a lake, no signal, no distractions, and I feel like we really hit our stride. There’s a few tracks that I think are going to surprise people.

Rome’ wasn’t built in a day, but when can we expect the album to come out?

Well we’re planning on getting a few tracks out very very soon, and we can start pushing towards the album sometime in the middle of next year.

What have you missed most about being on the road?

Just about everything. It’s typical that when you’re solid on the road for a few months you long for the studio, and now we’ve been locked in the studio, we’re longing for the road! Mostly just getting out and hanging out with the people who support what we do, that’s my favourite thing about making music.

You’re playing the DIY all-dayer, which should be a laugh. Will we be treated to lots of new material?

We have a couple of tunes up our sleeve!

What’s the one thing we should add to our all-dayer? It can be a band, a type of food, a cardboard cut-out of Ed Miliband…

I’d really appreciate impromptu, unannounced confetti drops. Everyone loves confetti. And maybe pizza.

We’ll look into it. Cheers chaps!
