Advertorial feature PRS Members’ Fund launch two new support schemes this summer
The Reset & Rewind Wellbeing Breaks and Summer Family Support schemes are both designed to offer extra help to PRS For Music members in the coming months.
PRS Members’ Fund - the charity that has helped support PRS for Music’s PRS songwriters and composers with financial and wellbeing schemes since 1934 - have launched two brand new schemes this summer, both designed to help offer further aid to members across the summer months. This summer, both the Reset & Rewind Wellbeing Breaks Initiative and Summer Family Support schemes have been launched in order to give artists, songwriters and composers (who double as PRS For Music members) that extra helping hand if they’re finding the season a little tough.
The Reset & Rewind Wellbeing Breaks Initiative has been especially designed to offer members an opportunity to take a step back this summer, in order to help rest, recuperate and reset their creativity, following any periods of intense stress or illness. With a ringfenced budget of £25,000, the fund is available for creatives to take a short, UK-based break of up to 5 days in order to help recalibrate. Members can apply for up to £500 for their break (cover up to £100 per day to cover B&B accommodation and travel costs), and applications will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis. Head here to apply, or to find out more.
Speaking about their experience after receiving funding last year, one member has said: “I was finally able to relax and unwind after a very stressful time in my life, and I found it really helped me to write songs and express things that I needed too. I am writing regularly again now – with others and also on my own, and it really is helping me to do so. I also made some great new music contacts, who will be lifelong friends, colleagues and collaborators.”
This year, the PRS Members’ Fund have also launched a second initiative, focussed on supporting any parents in the music industry. Unsurprisingly, the summer holidays can be a very challenging time for any parent - let alone one working within music - so the Summer Family Support scheme is available to help alleviate any financial stress, in order to help balance work commitments with their unique childcare needs. Members can apply for support for holiday clubs (up to £500 for two weeks), day trips (up to £150) or even school uniform costs (£250 for senior, or £50 for primary schools); whatever will help to lessen the load this summer.
So, are you a songwriter or composer that could do with a little extra help this month?
