News Record Store Day 2012: The Diary

If you go down to your record shop today (or rather, Saturday), you’re sure for a big surprise. Or maybe not, because here at DIY, being helpful little so and so’s, we’ve put together a little list of ‘stuff what’s happening’. You can thank us later.

Bridport Music - Bridport
Local musicians playing live throughout the day, and cakes.

Rise - Bristol
Miles Hunt, Fiction Records take-over featuring The Duke Spirit (live), Aaron Fletcher from The Bees (DJ), Orlando Weeks (The Maccabees) Art Exhibition, Fiction Staff on the shop floor, Spectres, Buzzards, Jodie Marie, Towns + Warp Records Art Exhibition, Antlers Gallery, OlO Worms (Fence, HeinzJunkins) DJ Set, Ivor Wilson DJ Set, and a fully licensed bar! Phew.

Head - Bromley
Live music in-store all day from Keston Cobblers Club, Guy Valarino, Cellarscape and the Van Susans and more. Plus a store appearance from Carl King, who will be signing his limited edition Record Store Day single. And lots of give-aways on the day.

Astonishing Sounds - Burnley
Various live bands.

Spillers - Cardiff
Jodie Marie in-store.

The Drift Record Shop - Devon
In- store curated by Finders Keepers featuring David Orphan DJ set, ExtraStereo DJ set, exclusive screen print series, exclusive mix tape, David A Jaycock in-store and much more.

Avalanche - Edinburgh
Ryan from Star Wheel Press will be in the shop on Record Store Day showing people how to make album covers. There will then be an after RSD party in the Electric Circus with various friends of Avalanche.

Coda Music - Edinburgh
Kris Drever, Bella Hardy, Rura, Rab Noakes and more play in-store.

Jam - Falmouth
In-store featuring Laish.

Love Music - Glasgow
Record Store Day cake, the free Tea Stall, the Push-Ups busker, and live performances from Admiral Fallow and Woodenbox With A Fistful of Fivers, and more.

Rubadub - Glasgow
Joy Orbison in-store and Rubadub Djs.

Dance2 - Guildford
Broadcasting live from the store, Dance2 Guildford, on Kane FM 103.7. DJs Subterra, Matt Domino, JM Maze, Airtight and more, will be spinning on the day.

Jumbo - Leeds
In-store including Dodgy and Still Corners

Davids Music - Letchworth
As well as providing breakfast to those queuing on the day, DJ Malc, Pugwash, Jon Gaskin (My Passion), Mr David Viner, Hannah James and Sam Sweeney (Bellowhead) will all be playing in-store.

Union Music - Lewes
Special acoustic in-stores/CD signings throughout the day including The Kilcawley Family, Trent Miller, Jack Day, Bara Bara Band, and Michele Stodart (from The Magic Numbers).

Wolstenholme Creative Space - Liverpool
There will be a CD/Vinyl swap shop, label stalls selling vinyl and merch, all day bar / coffee shop (bold street coffee), comfortable listening room (selected by you) and live music performances & listenings, with the event will culminating in a screening of Sound It Out.

Flashback - Islington, London
Fair Oh’s playing a in-store at 7pm.

Intoxica Records - London
Jonny Trunk of Trunk Records DJing, and various competitions on the day.

Rat Records - London
In-store including Serafina Steer and Julia Finnimore, DJ Andy Smith, DJ Food, and RSD cookies.

Rough Trade East - London
In-stores from Keane, Wet Nuns, Becoming Real, Johnny Flynn and more.

Rough Trade West - London
In-stores from Stealing Sheep, Cate le Bon, Allo Darlin’, Tom The Lion and Gemma Ray.

Sister Ray - London
In-store from Billy Bragg, various signings on the day, competition to win Jack White’s ‘Blunderbuss’ on white label.

Eastern Bloc - Manchester
Performances from AnD, Arnaldo, Bane, Gkut, Indigo, Karl Roscoe, Mark Turner, Simon Tonkinson, Szare and Tom Dicicco. Music will be served between 10am - 8pm.

Piccadilly - Manchester
Exclusive DJ Sets from Mr. Scruff, Tim Burgess (Charlatans), Balearic Mike, Neil Diablo (El Diablo’s) and Jason Boardman (Aficionado). Plus, vinyl art stall featuring artist Jilly Hartshorn.

RPM - Newcastle
Various bands live in the RPM Old George Arena, DJs in-store playing a wide repertoire of specialist sounds. Tea/Coffee/Bacon sandwiches, and licensed bar.

Diverse Music - Newport
Dirty Goods and Danny & The Champions of the World play in-store, as well as a raffle, some food and drink, and maybe a spot of DJing too.

Soundclash - Norwich
Twin Atlantic will be doing an exclusive in-store signing ahead of their show that night at The Waterfront.

The Music Exchange - Nottingham
In-store acoustic performances from Michael Feerick (APOF) and We Show Up On RadaR (Hello Thor) And DJ sets from Anders (Hello Thor) And Paul Leftlion. Also will have giveaways, raffles and free tea or coffee for the first 50 customers.

101 Collectors Records – Surrey
Jake Morley (featuring Hannah Clarke) and Graham Russ will be perform an in-store acoustic set . Also performing will be Taiko Meantime and Japanese Drummers.

Record Corner - Surrey
In-store featuring Sean Taylor.

Rise - Worcester
Wonderstuff in-stores. Free cakes and staff made mix CDs plus a DJ in the afternoon.

Acorn Music - Yeovil
Lucas Eldridge, Larry Turner, Mutter Slater, Design, Spidereen, The Animal Urges, Dub Liberators perform in-store. Also featuring refreshments and home made cakes.
